Virtual Book Tour Life on Fire by Jenetta M. Bradley and Karen D. Bradley #newrelease #fiction #fridayfinds

NRCLIFEONFIREPHARPERBANNER
 Title: Life On Fire

Genre: Fiction

Author: Jenetta M Bradley
About the Author
jenetta_pict

Chicago natives, Jenetta and Karen Bradley, are sisters and authors. Jenetta has always had a love for writing and has written and published five fictional books. She also post weekly updates to The SSMD, her online, interactive fictional story of a relationship advisor helping the Single, Shacking, Married, and Divorced (SSMD) while dealing with her own life’s ups and downs.
Her younger sister, Karen, didn’t start off sharing the love of writing. While being a creative mind, English and Grammar were never her strongest subjects. As life would have it, her weakest link would become her saving grace in life. It was during college she wrote her first book to help her cope with the death of her father, the upheaval of emotions, and her changing family dynamics. Writing fiction soon became one of her favorite forms of therapy.

About the book

lifeonfire1_final_300dpi__amazon

Brooklyn Saunders' life is set ablaze when her ex, Dante Nines, and a newly single friend, Hunter Torres, vie for the number one spot in her heart. Unknowingly, Dante brings trouble to her door causing their personal and professional lives to collide in the worst way. The entanglement unleashes a danger that will have both of the men she loves fighting to keep her safe. Will Brooklyn survive the chaos threatening to destroy her very existence? And if she does, who will she choose?

 Character Interview

Q. Please tell the readers who are the main characters?

·         Brooklyn is a head-strong senior analyst with an eclectic group of friends
·         Dante is Brooklyn’s ex whose work at an elite investigation firm causes a few challenges in his personal life
·         Hunter is a club owner and an entrepreneur with ties to people who don’t always abide by the law
·         Liang is Dante’s partner who is fighting demons from her past

QWhat or is there conflict in the story?

Brooklyn loves both Dante and Hunter for different reasons. Two good men who love her enough to work together to keep her safe when trouble finds her.

Q. Which characters in “are you most like?

Keep in mind I co-wrote Life on Fire with my sister Karen. When I think of Brooklyn the main character, head-strong, full of swagger as she sashays around in high heels (something I’ve never mastered) I think of Karen.

For me, I think I’m more like Liang, Dante’s partner who has a quieter fierceness, but is just as head strong. There’s a part in the book where Brooklyn and Liang are about to go toe to toe. Brooklyn was ready to jump obstacles to get to Liang and Liang was waiting in the cut ready for the fight. That scene reminds me of how my sister and I approach challenges, my sister is going to jump at it and take them down by the throat. I’m going to wait in the cut and swipe their feet from under them. Either way they are going down.

Q. Take us inside “your book” What are two major events
taking place?

Brooklyn is torn between trying to reunite with her ex, Dante, or pursue something new with her newly single friend, Hunter. In the midst of this, she is pulled into the middle of a deranged criminal’s twisted plan and faces losing her life.

Q. Are your characters from the portrayal of real people?
The characters are a blend of real people’s personality traits but never a portrayal of one specific individual.

Q. Describe each character in three words?

Brooklyn – stubborn, smart and sassy
Hunter – loving, personable and determined
Dante – strong, caring and protective
Liang – loyal, focused and resourceful

Q. If your book became a movie who would play the characters?

If Life on Fire became a movie, casting Brooklyn would be the most challenging. For Dante, it would either be Omari Hardwick or LL Cool J. Liang would be Ming-Wa Wen and Hunter would be played by either Laz Alonso or Christian Keyes.

Q.  Your lead characters have “baggage” that keeps them from wanting to pursue a new relationship. Do you think sometimes we let our past get in the way of what God has planned for our futures?

The past always has the potential to get in the way of God’s plans. We can become so focus on the past that we can’t see what God has laid out for the future. The fear of being hurt or letting go of things and people whose season has ended sometimes prevents us from pursuing something new and accepting God’s plans. We need to recognize when the baggage of the past is weighing us down and tripping us up and let go and let God do His thing.

Q. How do you see yourself in your character’s story, if at all?

When you talk in the general sense of living, we all are faced with being indecisive and unable to clearly see what’s best for us at some point in time. I’ve never been torn between two loves, but I have been torn between two job opportunities.

Rescued by Love by Kendra Y. Adama, Virtual Book Tour #newrelease #christian #nonfiction #fridayfinds

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Bestselling Author | Empowerment Speaker | Minister |
Certified Christian Counselor and Mentor

Kendra Y. Adams was born in Duncan, Oklahoma, but raised in Houston, Texas. She is a wife, mother, administrator, and founder, alongside her husband, of Heaven on Earth Marriage Ministry, a community-based ministry that encourages, enlightens and empowers marriages.
She is a minister and teacher of the gospel, certified Christian counselor and mentor. With more than twenty years in ministry, Kendra loves to serve and has held various leadership positions in the area of women’s ministry, youth, music and marriage ministry. She is also a contributor to two published books.

Kendra is an encourager and a firm believer in marriage maintenance and mentoring. She and her husband are passionate about empowering couples with tools to be successful in their marriage. In addition, Kendra has a heart for teen moms. Because of her life experience, she stands as an encouragement to let them know that God loves them and has a plan and purpose for their lives.

Kendra, tell us about your book?

Rescued by Love is a “testament” of God’s Love. I really prefer not to call it an autobiography because although the book talks about my life experiences, the prevailing message I want to be heard is that God’s Love can deliver you out of any situation or any dark area in your life.

In the beginning of the book, I talk about the power of a testimony....Growing up we use to have what we called “Testimony Service”. In this service (which would sometimes go for hours), we testified about what God had done for us so that #1) It could give glory to God #2) It could be an encouragement to somebody else.
When I wrote this book, I had those 2 things in mind.. Giving glory to God & encouraging somebody else who may be in a place in their lives where they feel discouraged and like nobody loves them – not even God.

I believe people are looking for transparency and we need to get back to sharing out story. Testimonies are effective and they are powerful. That’s what witnessing is about. Not necessarily throwing a ton of scriptures at somebody, but simply sharing what Jesus did for you ….. and in that – you can still share the word of God and how the word and the demonstration of Christ’s love changed your life.

Secondly, in this book I make reference to God’s Unconditional, Unending and Unfailing Love. These are the characteristics of “the God kind of love” that I’ve personally experienced.

Unconditional love – Romans 5:8 But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. It doesn’t mean that God loves everything we do, but rather His love for us is not like man’s … it doesn’t fluctuate - meaning He doesn’t care more for us when we please Him or less when we have failed or sinned against Him. He died on the cross so that EVERYONE could be redeemed and experience eternal life. His love for us is so pure, compassionate, intense and powerful that He loves us even when don’t love ourselves. The very essence of who He is - is Love.

Unending love – 1 Chronicles 16:34 NIV Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. We have a covenant of Love. His love is unending .. It’s everlasting.
Unfailing love – Psalm 48:9 NIV Within your temple, O God, we meditate on your unfailing love. Psalm 107:8 NIV Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men. God’s love is unfailing. He never stops loving us. There is nothing we can do to make God stop loving us. We don’t have to wonder about his Love. His love never fails.

How did you come up with idea for this book?

I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve shared my testimony and someone has said that needs to be in a book. It just so happens that I love to write …. God begin to give a desire to write my story.

He gave me the title of this book about 3 years ago, but I didn't attempt to start writing this book until the beginning of last year ... And after getting only a couple of chapters drafted, this book went into what I call a paralyzed state (some people call it writers block) whatever it was, I couldn't compose in writing what needed to be said in this book.

On 9/2/14, I was laid off my job and it wasn't even a month later that this book was birthed.

What was the most difficult aspect of writing this book?

Once I stepped into the “season” to write this book and God begin speaking to me, it was easy to write. I found myself in a writing marathon and completed the book in two days. Of course we’ve been editing the book and tweeking here and there, but for the most part, the book was birthed in two days which was amazing to me.

What valuable lessons do you want readers to learn from your book?

1) I don’t care how ugly your past or present situation is, God can take it and use it for His glory if you allow Him to.
2) Unless hurt is healed, it will manifest negatively in your life.
3) Forgive so that you can be free to live – release those who have wronged you and allow God to heal you.
4) God is a God of restoration

Who are your favorite authors?

Geesh! So many … but I would have to say Joyce Meyer and Dr Myles Munroe top the list.

What book(s) are you reading now?

When All Hell Breaks Loose, facing your fiery trials with Faith by Richard Roberts

The Source of My Strength by Charles Stanley

What books have most influenced your life?

So many …
1.Bible
2.Living Beyond Your Feelings by Joyce Meyer
3.How to Succeed at Being Yourself by Joyce Meyer
4.So Long Insecurity by Beth Moore
5.The Purpose and Power of Praise and Worship by Dr Munroe
6.The Power of Character in Leadership by Dr Munroe
7.Good Morning Holy Spirit by Benny Hinn
8.Transforming for a Purpose by Anita Carman

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
Joyce Meyer

HOW HARD IS IT TO FORGIVE?

After finding the biological mother who abandoned her as a baby, learning the identity of her birth father and her biological brother, Dupree is left distraught and betrayed. Like a volcano about to erupt, she vows to have nothing to do with her newly discovered family--so help her God! However, if Dupree's mother, Tiny, has anything to say about it, Dupree won't be able to keep that vow.
How does a former teenaged runaway become a wealthy, sophisticated business executive? Tiny's quest for happiness and independence in Kingston, Jamaica, has taken her on a life-altering journey through hell. After a vicious attack and a serious sickness that leaves her fighting for her life in the hospital, Tiny prays for death . . . but then God speaks. Will she listen to His voice? What exactly is He saying?

Mama Pearl tiptoed slowly toward the old cars, her steps hesitant but determined. The first few cars she looked into were empty. She continued toward the back when a bad odor filled her nose. With her face twisted up, Mama Pearl took deep breaths as she continued walking.

A scream lodged in her throat as she approached the last car. “Oh, dear Lord,” Mama Pearl whispered in shock. Two pieces of sticks, resembling legs, were hanging out the opened back door. Her heart slamming against her chest, Mama Pearl walked closer and saw the scrawny, young girl shaking uncontrollably in the backseat. She smelled like rotten garbage. Tears filled Mama Pearl’s eyes.

Mama Pearl quickly rested the box in her hand on top of the car and leaned inside to look at the young girl. Suddenly, two pair of red, haunted eyes stared up at her, piercing her soul.

“Help me,” the weak voice begged a little above a whisper.

Mama Pearl gasped loudly and pulled her head out of the car. She cushioned her weak body against the car as her jelly feet felt as if they were about to crumble. “Lord, dear Lord,” Mama Pearl muttered. “Dear Lord, dear Lord.”

Mama Pearl was not a stranger to the homeless people scattered all over Kingston. She was a long-standing viewer of the poverty that hit so many Jamaicans and only seemed to get worse, day by day.

Her heart bled as she turned and stared at the sick child again. She looked as if she was a minute away from death’s door.
Tiny rambled some gibberish and moaned in agony as sharp needles pricked her all over her ice-cold body. Her teeth chattered, and her eyes rolled around listlessly in her head.

Theresa A. Campbell is the author of the captivating novels, "Are You There, God?" and "God Has Spoken." She was born and raised in Jamaica West Indies.
