She is also a contributor to two published books.

In addition, Kendra has a heart for teen moms. Because of her life experience, she stands as an encouragement to let them know that God loves them and has a plan and purpose for their lives.

Kendra, tell us about your book?

Rescued by Love is a “testament” of God’s Love. I really prefer not to call it an autobiography because although the book talks about my life experiences, the prevailing message I want to be heard is that God’s Love can deliver you out of any situation or any dark area in your life.

In the beginning of the book, I talk about the power of a testimony....Growing up we use to have what we called “Testimony Service”. In this service (which would sometimes go for hours), we testified about what God had done for us so that #1) It could give glory to God #2) It could be an encouragement to somebody else.
When I wrote this book, I had those 2 things in mind.. Giving glory to God & encouraging somebody else who may be in a place in their lives where they feel discouraged and like nobody loves them – not even God.

I believe people are looking for transparency and we need to get back to sharing out story. Testimonies are effective and they are powerful. That’s what witnessing is about. Not necessarily throwing a ton of scriptures at somebody, but simply sharing what Jesus did for you ….. and in that – you can still share the word of God and how the word and the demonstration of Christ’s love changed your life.

Secondly, in this book I make reference to God’s Unconditional, Unending and Unfailing Love. These are the characteristics of “the God kind of love” that I’ve personally experienced.

Unconditional love – Romans 5:8 But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. It doesn’t mean that God loves everything we do, but rather His love for us is not like man’s … it doesn’t fluctuate - meaning He doesn’t care more for us when we please Him or less when we have failed or sinned against Him. He died on the cross so that EVERYONE could be redeemed and experience eternal life. His love for us is so pure, compassionate, intense and powerful that He loves us even when don’t love ourselves. The very essence of who He is - is Love.

Unending love – 1 Chronicles 16:34 NIV Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. We have a covenant of Love. His love is unending .. It’s everlasting.
Unfailing love – Psalm 48:9 NIV Within your temple, O God, we meditate on your unfailing love. Psalm 107:8 NIV Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men. God’s love is unfailing. He never stops loving us. There is nothing we can do to make God stop loving us. We don’t have to wonder about his Love. His love never fails.

How did you come up with idea for this book?

I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve shared my testimony and someone has said that needs to be in a book. It just so happens that I love to write …. God begin to give a desire to write my story.

He gave me the title of this book about 3 years ago, but I didn't attempt to start writing this book until the beginning of last year ... And after getting only a couple of chapters drafted, this book went into what I call a paralyzed state (some people call it writers block) whatever it was, I couldn't compose in writing what needed to be said in this book.

On 9/2/14, I was laid off my job and it wasn't even a month later that this book was birthed.

What was the most difficult aspect of writing this book?

Once I stepped into the “season” to write this book and God begin speaking to me, it was easy to write. I found myself in a writing marathon and completed the book in two days. Of course we’ve been editing the book and tweeking here and there, but for the most part, the book was birthed in two days which was amazing to me.

What valuable lessons do you want readers to learn from your book?

1) I don’t care how ugly your past or present situation is, God can take it and use it for His glory if you allow Him to.
2) Unless hurt is healed, it will manifest negatively in your life.
3) Forgive so that you can be free to live – release those who have wronged you and allow God to heal you.
4) God is a God of restoration

Who are your favorite authors?

Author Spotlight KT Richey, author of The Veil, A Christian Fiction Novel

Welcome KT, Tell us about yourself?

I am an evangelist. I live in the Washington, DC area. I have a master’s degree in counseling.

Tell our readers about your journey to writing

My journey is different from others. I never wanted to be a writer. One day I was having a life moment and I just started writing to relieve stress. Out of that moment in my life God birthed Lady Preacher, The Long Ride Home, The Veil, and Sunday Morning Blues.
God then connected me to people in the industry and I was able to get my first book deal.

Tell us about your journey becoming a successfully published author

When I was eighteen years old, Pulitzer Prize winning author Eudora Welty told me that I was going to be a writer. I laughed in disbelief.  Over twenty years later, I wrote my first novel, Lady Preacher. I received coaching from Victoria Christopher Murray.  She gave me sound advice and assisted me with finding an editor, a publisher and marketing for my book.  I followed her instructions and did not have any problems getting my first book deal.
It is the readers who kept me in the industry. I became very ill after Lady Preacher was published.  The readers kept me encouraged and helped me get through that time in my life. I believe God gave me the ability to tell a story. The publishers and editors made me a writer. But, it’s the readers who make me an author. I’m very thankful.

How do you balance your life as an author with your duties as a business person, employee, parent and/or spouse?

I love to tell people I write Christian romance novels.  They find it so fascinating. As a minister, I have spoken to many women’s and singles’ groups. My writing helps me with that ministry. It opens up dialogue and allows me to minister in ways I never imagined.  My writing is my ministry and there’s no conflict. My daughter is grown and I’m single so I can basically make my own schedule.

I find time every morning for mind, body and spirit.  I read the Bible, which relaxes me. I try to exercise daily. I listen to many different genres of music.

What was the best writing-related advice you ever received?

The best writing-related advice I have received came from Victoria.  She advised me to have my novel edited before I sent it to a publisher.  I have found this advice to be invaluable.

Can you tell us a little bit about your latest book?

My latest book is The Veil.  It is a story about a young lady, Misha, who enters the ministry. Unknown to her Pastor, she has the gift of prophetic vision.  Once her gift becomes apparent, she is kicked out of the church. She begins a journey of self-discovery until an unplanned pregnancy stops her in her tracks. She struggles find a balance in her ministry, personal life and her personal relationship with God.

How did you come up with the idea for your book?

I came up with the idea when someone asked me if I was born with a veil. I had never heard of anything like that. I asked one of the church mothers and she explained to me what it meant. Then, the story just poured out.

What was the most difficult aspect of writing this book?

The most difficult part of writing this book was trying to explain spiritual gifts without it appearing weird or spooky.

 What’s ahead for your writing?

I look forward to releasing a new series next year. I am also adapting two of my novels for screenplays.

How can people connect with you? List links

Where can readers purchase copies of your books?

My books can be purchased wherever books are sold:  Barnes & Noble, Books A Million, Amazon.com and Black Expressions.com

 Character Interview: The Veil

Please tell the readers who are the main characters?

Misha Halloway is a twenty-three year old teacher who lives in the suburbs of Atlanta. She was born with a veil which was a sign of prophetic insight.

Bernard Taylor is a twenty-five year old gospel music superstar. Born in an affluent family, he struggles with his identity and faith.

What is the conflict in the story?

Because of Misha’s gift she is not accepted by the church. She struggles to find a church or minister who can teach her about the gift and her ministry. She endures trial after trial until she gets pregnant.

Which characters in “are you most like?

Misha and I are both ministers.

Take us inside “your book” What are two major events taking place?

Misha is kicked out of the church once she reveals a secret about the pastor.  This leads her on a path that is directed by the Holy Spirit. She endures trials until she is no longer able to minister in the traditional way.

Are your characters from the portrayal of real people?

I grew up around a large number of women in ministry in the Pentecostal church.  However, my characters are fictional.

In writing your novels, how do you develop the plot?

I usually write to relax. Therefore, I don’t plot my stories. I just sit down at the computer and start typing. Sometimes, my characters will not let me sleep and I have spent many nights on the computer telling their stories.  If I get stuck on a scene, I ask God what the character is doing or trying to say and it usually flows from there.

Did you have difficulty keeping the story on point?

            Not really.

How much research was required, if any?

Thus far, I haven’t had to do much research in my writing. So far I have written what I am familiar with; ministry, law, medical and music.

Virtual Book Tour Stewart Perrilliat

Kingdom Principles For Everyday Living

 About The Book

The book is a 40 day devotional. It's a great book for men and women. This book is designed to help those who are struggling with a consistent prayer life. It's easy to read and very fruitful.

Guest Post

Over the years, I have come to understand the significance of the number 40. Scientifically speaking, 40 weeks is the length of time it takes for a mother to carry an unborn child from conception to delivery. Biblically speaking, 40 is the number associated with a period of testing before a breakthrough.

The number 40 is an indication that God is ready to birth something new out of pain or challenge. According to the Bible, Noah was in the rain for 40 days and nights before God brought a refreshing promise for His people.

When the Children of Israel were ready to cross over into their promise, the spies who preceded them took 40 days to scout out the land. However, because of disobedience, their 40 days turned into 40 years before they entered into the land of promise.
Goliath, who was killed by David, challenged the Children of Israel for 40 days prior to their victory over the Philistine army.

Before He began His ministry, Jesus, while being tempted by satan, fasted for 40 days and 40 nights in the wilderness.

I have experienced my own personal 40 days of trials and tribulations. However, because I did not lose my confidence in God, I was able to realize the significance of the number 40 and receive God’s blessings for me after my test. These truths concerning the number 40 inspired me to write this devotional.

In modern times, 30 days is used to complete various programs or to create a new habit. At the beginning of the year, Magazine cover stories often read, Thirty Days to a New You. For the purpose of this devotional the true number for the manifestation of a renewed life is the number 40.

Therefore, this devotional will afford you an opportunity to develop a more intimate relationship with the Lord and transform your life. As you read this devotional, it will give you hope and renew your strength. On those days when doubt and disbelief abound, I encourage you to remain consistent with your 40 day cycle of reading Kingdom Principles for Everyday Living: 40 Practical Principals for a Fruitful Life.
I challenge you to apply yourself and expect a breakthrough by the time you have complete this devotional. I encourage you to not only read through the devotions in this book, but to read the related scriptures and commit them to memory. This process will increase your knowledge of God, and strengthen your faith towards Him.

God’s will for us is to increase in every area of our lives by being doers of His Word. I pray that this devotional draw you closer to God and give you the incredible power to break into your promise.
