Featuring Missionary La' Tanyha Boyd

Who is this Woman of Faith?

Missionary Là Tanyha Boyd has a great passion for the up-building of God’s Kingdom. In having a mustard seed of “FAITH” and believing in the promises of God, she stepped out on just that and "Faith ABeliever's Virtual Book Club," along with “Spiritual Food for Thought~Radio" was born. With a mission to empower, equip and edify women in their life journey, she often challenges women to step outside the box and live their dream to continue to reach higher heights and deeper depths within.

To best describe her, she is not only a praying woman, a mother, a teacher and a visionary, but she is also an author, Founder of her own virtual/online book club, Executive Producer and host of her radio talk-show, mentor and an Inspirational speaker, with a heart and fire for God and His people.
Answering the Call to minister, she has been working in the vineyard for over ten years, and is a Licensed Missionary.

What’s on the horizon for Missionary La’ Tanyha?

Currently, Missionary Là Tanyha is penning a book entitled ‘Faith A Believer’s Devotional,’ As a Christian, there are times when you need encouragement and inspiration; especially when you’re dealing with the challenges of life. Faith A Believer’s Devotional is a daily devotional to encourage and inspire you in your walk with Christ; providing inspirational messages such as Walking in Purpose, A Time of Reflection, Confronting Me, Words of Encouragement and many, many, more. These devotions will not only offer daily words of inspiration but promote spiritual growth in the Lord and in your day to day living.

Once Editor-in-Chief for ‘Poetic Expressions Newsletter-PEN,’ Missionary Là Tanyha has also added numerous short stories and poems to her repertoire

This Woman of Faith and ABeliever of God’s Word(s) mission is not only to inspire individuals to define their purpose, but maximize their full God-given potential. She continues to reach the multitudes and win souls across the world through the airways because Missionary Là Tanyha, “Faith,” knows and understands that God has raised her up for such a time as this.

How was Faith ABeliever’s Virtual Book Club-FAB birthed?

Having an understanding that ministry goes beyond the four walls of church…
In the 21st Century, the church(s) dynamic was rapidly changing, as was technology. The internet and social media/networking became the new outreach for ministry and the up building of God’s kingdom. Unsure if I wanted to use this new outlet of communication, I prayed seeking God’s direction. I did know however, that whatever I did, I wanted it to have a purpose. It was then that God gave me the vision! There-after Faith ABeliever’s Virtual Book Club was born ministering to people across the globe! Not yet realizing the magnitude of this new ministry, God used FAB to reach the multitudes, with our first member being from Kenya, Africa.

What would you say is your connection with these Christian Authors (of today) that you feature?

As a walking Epistles in this journey that we call life, I truly believe that we all have a story to pen, share and be heard. As a writer and author myself, I find that most people don’t realize that writing is not only a gift, but also a ministry. The challenge that we face as authors, is getting the message and word out to the masses. Faith ABeliever’s Virtual Book Club(FAB) is an outlet to bridge the gap in the mission to minister to the unbeliever as well as Christians of all denominations.

What messages come across in our featured Author spots?

Turning the pages and getting to know our featured Christian authors, opens the door for discussions on real life experiences that both the believer and non-believer endure. Most of these topics are translated through the ‘power of the pen’ by these authors transparency, whether it’s fiction or nonfiction. Not only are subject matter such as divorce, racial division, child abuse, rape, domestic violence, etc… discussed, but the tools on how to overcome such dilemmas are given in the natural sense, as well as in the spiritual. This platform allows others to share their testimony, knowledge, wisdom, and experiences in order to Edify, Equip, and Empower someone else in knowing they are not alone. Through such Author chats and book discussions, with God as the orchestrator, and a mustard seed of Faith, someone can be brought into their breakthrough.

 About the Book

Aaron Jamieson is living a carefree life. He's good-looking, respectable when he's in the mood, but his weakness is women. When a woman tries to ambush him with a pregnancy, he takes off in the other direction. Responsibility as an option is something he learned from his absentee father.

Talise Rogers has a bright future ahead of her. She's pretty and has no problem catching a man's eye, which is exactly what she does with Ace. Their chemistry is undeniable and their passion explosive. Trapping Ace is the furthest thing from Talise's mind, when she learns she is pregnant.  She is determined to be a good parent.

When Ace rejects her she lets him know, " I want nothing from you Ace, not even your name," and she means it.  But Ace's big brother and cousins don't plan to let the child who represents the twelfth generation descendant of a royal African tribe leave the fold. Whether Ace decides to accept his responsibility or not, his family embraces Talise and baby.  As for Ace, they turn him over to the LORD.  How long will he be able to endure the guilt trip he's experiencing because of his choices?  What will it take for him to accept responsibility and turn from following in his father's footsteps?

About the Series

The Jamieson Family Legacy series follows the lives of the two Jamieson brothers in Boston, Kidd and Ace and their cousin Cameron from St. Louis.  Kidd, the older brother, is struggling with anger and resentment issues toward his absentee father who never married his mother, but had the audacity to demand his illegitimate sons carry his last name Jamieson. Ace, on the other hand, is on a collision course with disaster as he shows how much a "chip off the old block" he is when it comes to women.

Their highly educated MIT graduate cousin, Cameron Jamieson, is all about saving his family from self-destruction. Through genealogy research, Cameron's mission is to show his cousins their worth as eleventh generation descendants of a royal African tribe and give them a choice: to be angry black men or accept the challenge to become strong successful black men.

The Jamieson men in this three book series are challenged with accepting that the past and the present are both in God's hand.  Without Him they can't move forward toward their future blessings. The bonus storyline is one that progresses the story of the much-loved Grandma B.B. character from the author's previous Guilt books and her new sidekick, Mrs. Valentine.

Author Ornitha Danielle

Thanks Ornitha for joining us today.....

Ornitha, Tell us about yourself?

I’m the proud mother of three children and the wife to Rodney “LeeStylez” Taylor a professional photographer and graphic designer. I’m a native of Memphis, TN and now reside in Somerville, TN. I’m currently working on my degree in Speech and Theater with emphasis on Creative Writing. I’m the owner and Editor-in-Chief of my own Magazine called “So Fyh Magazine Online and So Fyh Book Reviews also. I’m the eldest of four children. I’m The So Fyh Literary Diva (D.I.V.A) means D= Divine, I= Inspired, V=Virtuous Vessel of the who am I kidding, looking at myself as a writer, But I thank God for all that I’ve learned. Staying focused on my goals, dreams and ambitions have gotten me to where I am today. If it hadn’t been for God on my side during this time, I have no idea where I would be? However I’ve made it through.

What was your path towards publication like?

I don’t believe I really had a certain path, or at least I don’t recall
Lord, A= Angel ™ ©) The D.I.V.A of all things literary. (“I’m a diva in my own right, I own my own and going to hold my own.” ™ © )

Tell our readers about your journey to writing.

Well my journey has been one ride after another. I have learned some things along this literary road, some good and some of it bad. I’d even thought to myself ll having one. All I knew was that I wanted and needed to write.

How do you balance your life as an author with your duties as a businessperson, employee, parent and/or spouse?

Funny you should ask that…. Begin a woman we had to learn to multi-task, as mother, wife, and a businesswoman, I have always danced to my own music in other words I’ve called my own shots; my life really hasn’t stopped just because I’m an author/novelist/poet that was just another aspect or ingredient to add to my life.  And now with my family all grown up now basically: having two children in college and one in high school. I have understood that it was time for me, as a woman to do a few things that I’ve always wanted to do that time hadn’t allotted for me in the past. My husband and I are now at a place where we can do a few things since our children are becoming more independent.

What is your best advice for getting past writer's block?

My advice would be to step away from it all before you loss it (lol) literally. I’ve had to go back and re-read what I’d written or maybe even read a different book to get a little inspiration and maybe listen to some music. That usually helps me from time to time.

What was the best writing-related advice you ever received?
The best writing-related advice that I ever received was basically to just write and write and write and write some more. Whatever you’re feeling, experiencing, what you’re going through. That has helped me with my writing.

Please tell us why you feel this way?

Well during the process of writing this book, I experienced so much, and writing allowed me to bolt for freedom. To be one with my thoughts and passion for writing, basically I have a love for words. As a child my parents had given me the second best give besides life was the love of books. Reading and writing became my best friend, a friend that never told secrets or judged me, on how I felt, or what I thought.

How has it helped you, etc?

This has helped me to overcome some of the writing issues, like not feeling the flow. I sometimes have to be in the mode to write or feel inspired by something to write.

Can you tell us a little bit about your latest book?

My book is a Urban Christian Fiction novel, which deals with real life issues, that sometimes we as Christians face on a daily bases. Just because we’re Christians we aren’t exempted from life. We are living in a world full of sin and we’re sinful people, but we are striving to be sinless on a daily bases.  Some of the characters’ in this novel will take you on a wild ride; of all the things that they allow their fleshly desires to do. And even they know right from wrong and they still indulge in worldly things. Just as so many of us today.

How did you come up with the idea for your book?

God inspired the ideas for this book. In this industry I believe that we didn’t need another negative entity place in the atmosphere. This book will inspire many individuals as it has done me, while writing it. As a Christian novelist I do believe that I’m responsible for what materials that I place in the world for everyone to see. I also believe that one day each of us will be held accountable for what we do
What was the most difficult aspect of writing this book?

The most difficult part of actually writing this book was when I first started writing it the book it had a different titled called “A Forbidden Romance: A Quest for Happiness.  There was a great struggle with how I was trying to write the story and what God was saying to me about what I needed to write.

(Please share why it was difficult as well as insight into how you overcame this difficulty.)

How I overcame this difficultly was I had to step away from the book for a while basically for three months. During that time I went into prayer about the direction I needed to go and how HE wanted me to write this book. I prayed everyday, until I got an answer. A finally I heard from God saying…  The book that you’re writing is not the way you will write it.” He then gave me a new title “A Heart Of Reign”…. I was able to keep some of the storyline and HE told me that I was going to write it, but the way HE wanted it written.

Did you have to do any special research for your book?
Yes! Actually, I did have to some special research for my book, because some of the things that are going on in the story, I had to make sure it was actually possible or could even happen.

What’s ahead for your writing?

I plan to write more Christian novels and even write a few poetry books, including my Memoirs. And I also plan to have my online magazine in print form in the near future. I plan to write a few plays and movies. In other words wherever my craft and passion for writing leads me I’ll go. Whatever is God’s path for me as a novelist I’ll follow it.

What opportunities have opened up because of your writing?

I’ve been blessed with many opportunities to write for many publications such as; several online magazines, I written press releases for businesses, I’ve written book reviews for authors. I’ve even written public service announcements and petitions, sponsor letters for a non- profit organization. I’ve written commercial advertisements for businesses. I’ve written radio monologues and I’ve entered into a few writing contest and was even featured in a few online magazines because of my writings.

How can people connect with you?

People can connect with through Facebook, Twitter and my websites.   http://www.facebook.com/Ornitha, http://www.sofyhbookreviews.com http://www.sofyhmagazineonline.com/
Where can readers purchase copies of your books?

Author Carol Stratton

Who is Carol Stratton?

I am a wife and mother of four children and two grandchildren who remind me how much fun it is to play again!   I spend free moments learn mandolin and fiddling around with guitar. For ultimate writing inspiration I enjoy hiking in the Appalachian Mountains. Of course my favorite activity is having the whole family over for a cookout. I love seeing our table grow larger every year as our family expands.

I especially like humor and making people laugh. We don’t get enough these days so when I sell a humorous piece it makes my day. I write to help people out of life’s cracks and I coined a name for it:  Crackpatcher is a name I coined. I hope my writing, either inspirational or humorous can do that.

Carol, tell our readers about your journey to writing.

I got published my hometown newspaper, the Palo Alto Times. My sixth grade teacher submitted an essay to the Youth Said It column and I was hooked.

What was your path towards publication like?

Slow.  For years and focused on writing songs. After 9/11, I felt compelled to write an essay. Two days later I sat in front of the editor while he read it on the spot and agreed to publish it. (Not the way to query a busy editor!).   I spent about five years sending out article with only one or two a year that got published. Meanwhile I wrote a Middle Grade novel about a boy whose brother had died, a picture book, a moving tips book, and a women’s inspirational novel. Out of pure stubbornness I kept trudging back and forth to writing conferences, pitching books until I pitched my devotional book to Eddie Jones, my editor.

What is your biggest obstacle when it comes to pitching yourself as an author and what steps have you taken to overcome that obstacle?

Finding the balance between self-promotion and confidence. If I am in this business just to make a name, it’s an awful long journey. But if I focus on my message and know it will help people, it’s easier to pitch my ideas. Probably having several published pieces under my belt has strengthened my confidence but ultimately my passion and take-way for the reader propels me through times of doubt.

How do you balance your life as an author with your duties as a business person, employee, parent and/or spouse?

I didn’t start writing until three of my kids were teenagers so finding time was easier but you do need to be sneaky and squeeze in time when you can. I’ve been known to shoot out of bed at midnight to write down a rough draft of an essay that will otherwise escape me in the morning. I also write in my mind while driving or walking. It’s a good way to hash out a passage or figure out a description. Writers are always writing, either mentally or on paper.

What is your best advice for getting past writer's block?

My problem has not been writer’s block but writer’s diahhrea! I started talking very early and haven’t stopped expressing myself yet. But when I get stuck on a plot point, for example, I will give myself a break and switch over to another task, such as describing a character or putting together some witty dialogue.  Also, I bounce ideas off of my husband who has a zillion ideas and always helps me get “unstuck”.  He’s my muse!

What was the best writing-related advice you ever received? (Please tell us why you feel this way? How has it helped you, etc?)

I have a card in my office with Churchill’s shortest speech on the front. It says, “Never, never, never give up.” If I believe (which I do) that God gives us certain gifts and motivations, it behooves me to keep going, because, “… he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion…” Phillipians 1:6. This verse reminds me it’s not all on my shoulders to produce. If I can encourage even a handful of people with my writing it will be worth it.

Can you tell us a little bit about your latest book?

Yes. Changing Zip Codes: Finding Community Wherever You’re Transplanted  is a forty-day devotional for anyone moving or looking for community. The book came out of my many relocations with my husband and children. Moving is difficult but it can be a great adventure and bring your family closer. I share real life stories pared with Bible verses to encourage the reader through all aspects of a move.

How did you come up with the idea for your book?

I had another moving book with tips and stories that I kept pitching to editors and they always turned it down because it was a “niche” market. Evidently editors never move. Last summer I went to Write To Publish, a wonderful conference in Wheaton, Illinois, and heard Eddie asking for devotionals for niche markets. That magic word, “niche” caught my attention and I threw out an idea for a devotional for those who relocate. He took it.

What was the most difficult aspect of writing this book? (Please share why it was difficult as well as insight into how you overcame this difficulty.)

Because I used personal stories, I had to be transparent to my readers. I had to wrestle with myself when I wrote about certain subjects like feeling alone and friendless in the middle of a Bible study, difficult neighbors, and the move I didn’t want to make. But knowing my struggles have been common to many women has made it easier to share.
I also know when I share my stories I know I might be criticized with some readers thinking how multiple moves must have disrupted our family life. I’ve found the opposite to be true. The truth is a lot of our moves were either when our children were young, or they were moves in the same city from one house to another. Now our children are grown and we are a close family. In fact we all ended up in North Carolina. In a funny sort of a way, they’ve had to learn important life skills such as how to meet people and cope with change- abilities we need our whole life.

Did you have to do any special research for your book?  No.

If you could choose just one thing for your book to accomplish, what would it be?  If I can encourage some young mother who can’t remember how to get to the grocery store, hates the weather in her new state and think she’ll never have a community of friends, I will feel successful.

What’s ahead for your writing?

I hope to publish my Middle Grade novel, Wolverine Hill, and my inspirational romance, Lake Surrender as well as articles. I also see a Changing Zip Codes for children who have moved.

What opportunities have opened up because of your writing?

I have recently had opportunities to speak at MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) meetings. I know how hard it is to be a mother to small children. At one point I had three children five and under and was climbing the walls. On the way to one of my speaking engagements, I thought, why wasn’t there a MOPS group around when I had young children?  The answer came flying back to my mind…if you had had a different experience you wouldn’t have anything to share with these young moms. It kind of spooked me but also comforted me that God uses everything in our lives. So now I’m excited about expanding my speaking pursuits.

I hope your readers will think of Changing Zip Codes: Finding Community Wherever You’re Transplanted  if they are moving or know anyone about to relocate.
